Who Are We?
In August 2010 rockin' beads opened in Tavistock, Devon. The owners, Garry Yeoman and Donna Tombs - that's us (just recently married in Scotland as part of our 'Year of doing everything in one go' - relocation from Scotland to Devon, setting up our first small business AND going back up to Scotland briefly to get married) created a much loved, award winning bead shop in Tavistock, arguably the Best in the West.
However, after 2 years of tramping across the moor on a daily basis we decided to relocate to the sleepy moor town of Okehampton where we lived. In a bigger shop in a more central location we were able to bring in yarn, a little at first then more, then too much to stay in those premises!!!
In August 2015 we moved across the lovely Red Lion Yard to a much more suitable unit, one where we could really concentrate on all things woolly. And that's the problem. We are called rockin' beads. We need a more suitable name.
We have a very loyal following, hello, to each and every one of you, and one of them came up with the most excellent name - The Woolly Beader (thank you Sarah White).
Why we need your help:
When we moved, we had to completely refurbish the interior of 7 Red Lion Yard, including a costly exercise to create a new lampwork studio (it is very lovely though). We had neither energy nor funds to rebrand at that time and anyway, we didn't want to confuse people even more than we already were.
So now, we need to show the world that we are no longer all about beads but just as much about wool and yarn.
In May 2016 we will transform from rockin' beads to The Woolly Beader but we need about £600 for shop signs, £150 for decals for the car and the rest is for website changes, leaflets, marketing and publicity.
Okehampton is a quiet town and our aim is to let as many people as possible know that it is home to a fantastic wool/bead shop with a great selection of both, an excellent range of classes and the best personal service you could hope for.
Thank you so much for reading this far. We really hope you feel that you can help support this project.
