New stretch target
We will use any extra monies to have a really good launch for the book and to support publishing future projects by similarly fabulous writers.
A full length collection of the poetry of Derrick Porter, based on his working class childhood in Hoxton, East London.
About the project
We would like to raise funds to publish a full length 54 page paperback book. This book is a first colleciton of Derrick Porter's poems and are based on his childhood and young adult experiences in Hoxton, East London. There are also some great photographs from his family collection.
Derrick Porter was born in 1938 in the East End - we can't say where exactly because - well, we just can't! He grew up playing on the bombsites of Hoxton and socialised with some nice folk and some dubious characters in his youth. This is all in the poems. Derrick started writing at the age of 13, in a prefab in Vince Street. He has been published in Long Poem Magazine, Envoi, Acumen, The Interpreter's House, Magma, The New Writer and Brittle Star and the Poetry School's anthology 'This Little Stretch of Life' (Hearing Eye).
