Project aim

Indie/Rock festival for young people and adults with additional needs who can not access festivals such as Reading and Leeds.

About the project

We are parents of a teenage boy who is desperate to go to Reading festival  but because of his Autism can not go (Sam has issues with very large crowds and fireworks )So as parents we felt why should our son and others with any disability miss out on something that most people take for granted when festival season comes around.

The idea has started to take shape with various charity organisations on board with their support. We have already secured the venue which is Prospect park in Reading on July 30th 2016 we have a team of people sourcing entertainment for the day from stalls to food and bars. We all ready have on board a circus skills company and various work shops for the day. We also hope to create a sensory chill out 'village' for when things get a bit to much. Quotes for security and marshalling have been agreed and the music stage will soon be decided. There are seven bands already booked to play  all have agreed to waver usal fees but we have agreed to meet expenses.

One band that has been on board from the start consists of members from the indie/rock band 'Noah and the whale'. They are one of our main acts but we are in disscusion with a headline act.The rest of the acts are up and coming local bands with bright futures and a Scotish rock band big on the charity scene in scotland.

So how will our festival work? we hope to make the festival fully accessible with matting round the site for wheel chair users the music side will be structured in a way that meets the needs of any one with sensory issues ,There will be no mad flashing lights, the music will be loud enough to hear but not to loud ,there will be no pyrotechnics and there will be a limited number of tickets in order to give the audience room.

Our aim is to offer that Reading festival buzz to those that can not access the real thing. Please check out our Website www.adifferentworldfestival.co.uk
