The plan to is to hold a celebration of this great woman who worked tirelessly for all of mankind. The oppressed black workers in South Africa, the women of the world, the poorly paid workers of Great Britain and children everywhere. She also wrote novels, poetry, plays, as well as writing for popular newspapers like the Manchester Guardian and Radio Times, She died young, aged 37 and the outpouring of grief from the old suffagette campaigners to Liverpool dockers was amazing. We want to celebrate the breath of her life and relaunch the Winfred Holtby Society to give this great Yorkshire woman the attention she deserves. We need more like her and showing people what she managed to do in her short life, may inspire someone to follow in her footsteps. The event will last one day and is planned to be free to anyone who wants to come along. It is being held at the Hull History Centre on Saturday 19th September, 2015 10.00 am - 4.00 pm. We want as many people to come along and give them a great day clebrating the life of one of Britain and Yorkshire's great women!
