About our club

The "Why Don't You...?" Club is our club for families living in and around Redruth. We come together every week to cook something new, try our hand at a different activity and then all sit down to together to enjoy lunch. The club is very popular, with 110 people from 37 families attending last year, and continuing to grow; we regularly have around 50 people a week.

The club is run by staff from Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change (CN4C) and volunteers, and many of the families attending have a range of complex and multiple issues.

What they say about our club:

"I tell my boys that if they don’t behave, then they won’t be able to go to club on Saturday – that usually sorts them out!”

"My son was being violent towards me and I was struggling with my mental health. The club helped to build my confidence, and help us change my son’s behaviour.”

"I've got four children under 8 so can’t take them all swimming at once at the leisure centre. Having the volunteers at club meant that we could all get in the water together.”

Why are we Crowdfunding?

We have learnt to cook all sorts of things from bread, pizza and pasties to fruit kebabs, ginger beer and jam; we have made posters, flags and clocks, as well as tin can lanterns, bird boxes, mosaic mirrors and printed our own t shirts; we have welcomed visitors including musicians, a magician and a Chinese tutor, as well as having a go on the radio; and we love to get outside too, with swimming sessions, blackberry picking, walks in the woods and trips to the beach.

We have a really really exciting summer of activities planned, but need to raise £1,500 in order to cover the cost of the food, materials for activities, workshops and transport.

About Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change (CN4C)

Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change seeks to transform disadvantaged neighbourhoods by working with residents and partners to provide life opportunities and advocate for long-term change.

We firmly believe that the most genuine way to help people is to provide high quality and accessible services right in the heart of the community; helping people to break free from the bonds of poverty and empowering them to 'do it for themselves'.

We work with communities, groups and individuals to achieve the change that they want. We work across Cornwall from Saltash and Bude down to The Lizard, St Just and Penzance.
