To transport donated goods from Cornwall to refugees in Calais. We have collected donations, we now need to transport them to London, from where they will then be taken to Calais.
About the project
We set up a collection point at Miss PeaPods on the eve of Sunday the 23rd of August to collect donations for the Calais refugees and show some solidarity. And boy did the people Cornwall respond! We were astonished at how generous people were with their donations and how enthusiastic people were to help. What was great was that many people set up satellite collections, for example, we had a whole van load from the lovely people of St Just!
We now need to raise funds to transport (van hire and fuel) these donations to London for the drop off organised by CalAid on 6th September. From London they will be taken to Calais by CalAid. By working with CalAid it keeps the flow of donations to Calais cohesive and organised. CalAid have been over a few times now, so have a good idea of what is needed.

The World Wide Tribe Calais have been documenting the situation in Calais. You can find more information and inspirational stories from people living at the camp here:
The question of how to solve the problem long term is complex. But right now we have a humanitarian crisis on our doorstep. No human is illegal.
