The Coventry Film Festival is the first of its kind in a city of 305,000 inhabitants. We are aiming to develop a large scale festival that would lead to the attraction of investors and media businesses that the city at present lacks. Coventry has a history of industry but film and media has always lacked a presence. Despite this there are many, many film makers in the city and this festival is going to be primarily to help develop and enhance their creative abilities.
The funding would be used to promote and advertise the first festival. We would include the development of large scale ‘cinematic’ events where populist movies, such as THE HOBBIT and THE SOUND OF MUSIC are utilised to create an event to bring people of the city together for a fun, upbeat cultural experience.

The movies are the most powerful story telling method of our age. The seductive nature of the moving image and the combination of music and dialogue weave an engrossing art form that pulls and mesmerises the watcher. We want to share this with people but also empower them to tell their own cinematic stories as well.
The Coventry Film Festival will be a terrific way to begin this and bring the creative people of Coventry together. We are a relatively large city and it’s time we have our own festival. The Coventry Film Festival is run by people who have a passion and who care about the movies.
For us films are not just about the money but also about the enjoyment and thrill a night out at the cinema can create. We have designed awards that will be handed out to the winners, who have been judged by a select panel of experts and film buffs. You can see an example of this award below.
Halogen Entertainment and Tayler Made productions have created two feature films, CHANGE FOR A SHILLING and ICICLE. Both movies were created by raising the funds locally and provided jobs for local talent. To this end we are creating two more features during 2014 that will use car chases and special effects for the first time. Coventry is always our backdrop.
