Jan, our beloved 1972 Bedford van has been vandalised. With your help, we can get her windscreen replaced, cleaned up and back on the road, good as new!
I brought 'Jan', a 1972 Whitby Morrison Ice Cream van over from London, with the intention of giving her a new lease of life, serving the good people of Belfast fantastic coffee, milkshakes and treats! (I currently sell these goodies from 'that wee cafe' and was looking to take the cafe out on the road)
Most of the street food and coffee vans knocking about are Citroen H Vans and things like that. I was looking for something a bit different, a bit more classic, a bit more home grown. Theses old Bedford vans certainly ticked all the boxes for me.
Sadly, within a week of Jan's arrival, she was vandalised.
I was utterly heartbroken, as I had invested all my savings in bringing her over. I have been told that there's only a handful of this particular model of ice cream van knocking about the place, so finding a second-hand windscreen has been almost impossible.
This is where you can help!
With your help, we'll be able to find a replacement windscreen somewhere or get Jan a shiny new windscreen custom made.
We will also give her a nice new paint job, get her cleaned up inside and get her back on the road sooner rather than later.
Good as new. Restored to her former glory!
And personally for me as a proper card-nerd, you can help me preserve this gorgeous piece of automotive history for years to come
I'm Andrew McMenamin, owner of 'that wee cafe' here in Belfast. We serve brekky, lunch, coffee and milkshakes to the good people of Belfast city. I'm a massive fan of street food and have a love of classic British vans.
Thank you so much for your time.
