New stretch target
Hurray we reached our first target!
Thank you to everyone who pledged, we're now aiming for £1,500!
Saltaire Festival is now in its 12th year and each year has grown and grown.
We estimate that a fantastic 50,000 visitors attended the 2013 festival but this puts increasing pressure on our resources and means our costs have gone up significantly this year. At the same time it has become increasingly challenging to raise the £60,000 it costs to run the festival as funders experience greater demands on their budgets. We've also found securing sponsorship is harder and more competitive. We desperately want to keep the festival essentially free so need your help to help us continue in 2015.
Saltaire Festival is a nine-day community and arts festival that celebrates the heritage and culture of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Saltaire. We try to provide something for everyone with a first weekend dedicated to families with lots of activities aimed at children including circus skills, model making and a treasure hunt on the Shipley Glen Tramway.
Weekday evenings offer a number of ticketed theatre, comedy and film events in venues across the village before the finale weekend with its street markets, live music, great food and bars, street entertainment and a funfair. In all the festival offers more than 100 events most of which are free and all run by volunteers. Saltaire Festival has a massive impact on the local area with more than £1m extra spent in local shops, restaurants, bars and hotels.
What is your idea?
If every visitor to the festival gave us £1 we would have enough money to run next year's event. This would allow us to focus our efforts on putting together a great programme for everyone to enjoy. Without your help however the future of the festival in its current form is in doubt. We need your support to keep this fantastic event alive.
Why are we crowdfunding?
Crowdfunding is a great way of letting everyone know about the festival and how it is funded. It also allows everyone who attends and values the festival to make a small contribution that together can help us continue providing what is Bradford District's best attended annual event. Your pledges will go towards paying for all the things we need to put in place to make a great festival including infrastructure like stages, PA systems, toilets etc and all the professionals we need to pay such as security, first aid and refuse collection.
