We would love to be able to raise enough money to buy a proper Cricket kit for a group of adults with learning difficulties who love their Cricket.
Funding is needed to buy 18 cricket tops designed to be like one day cricket match tops, so they will be brightly coloured with our own logo on them (see photo below).
For four years now we have held regular fundraising cricket matches, where our group of adults who have disabilities such as, Downs Syndrome, Autism, Asperger Syndrome, and other physical and emotional difficulties, take on another cricket team in a day of Cricket and fun.
This is held along with various other activities around the match, and is a great chance for our team to mix with the local community, where everyone has such a great time but also raise a bit of money for the group.
If you would like to see what our group is all about, have a look at our website.
While at work, we make sure we spare enough time at lunch to have a Cricket training session. Having started from humble beginnings, we have managed to receive recognition from The Cornwall Cricket governing body, who have provided us with training equipment.
So a contribution to our kit would be so appreciated, we would also love to see you at our next Cricket fundraising match on Sunday 7th September, at St Austell Cricket Club, starts at 1pm.
Your support helps a group of people experience something many of us take for granted. A day where they can enjoy the full cricket and community experience, at a proper cricket ground.
Finally, a quote from one of our people's parents, Patricia and Stephen:
"A year or so ago Phillip had no interest whatsoever in sport participation - mainly caused by low self confidence. However, he now positively looks forward to playing Cricket with his workmates during the summer months and football in the winter, and thoroughly enjoys the participation! The recent culmination of this was a starring role in the People and Gardens Cricket match in September!"
