My journey so far:

Inspired by the London 2012 Olympics, I took to rowing like a duck to water (please excuse the pun). It soon became apparent that I had an aptitude for for the sport and within a relatively short period of time I had broken 2 British Junior Indoor Rowing records. Since then I have competed in numerous Indoor Rowing competitions gaining Silver and Bronze medals at the National Junior Indoor Rowing Championships. However, my real passion lies with rowing on the water. I am lucky enough to receive some top level coaching from members of my club, Greenbank Falmouth, which is based at Stithians lake, Cornwall. Although the regatta season is halfway through, I have already enjoyed great success rowing as a part of the junior and women's crews. The less successful races have taught me some valuable lessons that I shall carry forwards with me to future competitions.

New strokes:

While I enjoy racing as part of a team, single sculling would give me the chance to show the world what I am capable of as an individual. In order for me to progress to this next level I need to have my own single sculling boat and blades. My ultimate dream being to represent my country at the Olympic games. I have found a boat which is perfect for me; right size; fast in the water and in excellent condition, but, I need to raise the funds to purchase it. Having trialed the boat I have experienced the difference a proper racing boat can make to my speed on the water. It's amazing! This boat would enable me to focus on training in my own single, improving my technique, building my base fitness and muscle power in readiness to race by myself. The only thing stopping me is money as I am dedicated and highly motivated, training most days, whether it be on the water or on an indoor rowing machine. I have even started a club at school with the hope that others will catch the rowing bug too.

Keeping the pace up:

Any donations to this project will be met with extreme gratitude as well as a signed photograph of me. Those of you who are able to donate larger sums will see that as well as a one-to-one coaching session on the ergo, I have also managed to secure various microlight flights around Cornwall as a means of saying thank you.

I cannot express how much this would mean to me.

Please, join me on my journey... Invest in my future!

 Thank you, Hettie x
