A series of events to highlight and showcase young artists work leading to the takeover of a town centre gallery and delivery of projects

Project aim

EXPOSED is a series of events by young people, supporting young people who otherwise would not have a platform to showcase their work.  The events and the space will bring together a number of young, struggling artists and their work to the attention of audiences they otherwise would not reach, giving them the opportunity for exposure and to flourish.

About the project

The Creative Collective (TCC) is the only art gallery in Ashford, offering the local community a place to enjoy art - also acting as an intermediary between local talent and their market. It is a community collective.  We want to take over the back room of the gallery permanently and make it ours, but WE NEED YOUR HELP.

There are a lot of young, talented and ambitious artists in Ashford that benefit from The Creative Collective, and whilst we are happy to offer young artists the opportunity to showcase their work, you can see these people, their work and this town boom.

Currently, we offer:

  • The showcasing of young talent’s work
  • How to frame & present work
  • CV and Brief workshops
  • Pricing and presentation for sales learning centres
  • Confidence and speech training

Part of the service offered by the TCC, which is specifically beneficial to developing artists, is the opportunity to be coached/mentored by local business owners and managers so that they are able to advance their career or consider other training and/or educational options.  We aim to help artists to be original, disruptive and different, but don't currently have the means to secure our own premises.

EXPOSED is an event by young people, for young artists.  We are all 18 to 25 years old, some of us with business or creative degrees and others having left school or college recently.

EXPOSED is a platform to launch the young artists who all too often, don't have the confidence and the finances to present themselves or their work.  The artists are ready to emerge with a large number of high quality pieces, and we need to move forward now and get their work out there.

We are raising funding so that we can frame and make all the work ready for the gallery and the exhibition, to ensure that the event and all the activities resulting from it are well marketed and promoted, and to provide the catering and live music for this launch event.  We want to make this an event to remember and one which the entirety of Ashford can be proud of. For that to become a reality, we need your help.

Here is a break down of costs;

  1. Framing the work of emerging talent who cannot afford to display them professionally 30 x £45= £1350
  2. Marketing the event and the gallery through printed materials, Social Media campaigns and our exciting and vibrant website = £750
  3. Gallery Overheads for the next 12 months x £200 = £2400
  4. Cost of Event - Catering and waiter service = £250
  5. Volunteer Expenses = £250

The event will not only highlight the work of future artists but ensure that they have a permanent space from which to organise events, viewings and festivals, create volunteering and work opportunities, and work with the business community to eventually take over the event management of the gallery.

Celebrate the youth of today, working hard to create a place of solidarity, creativity and enjoyment by donating. A number of rewards are available for everyone who offers funding for this incredible project, so please dig deep and contribute generously to keep the talented flames in Ashford alight. Together we can make Ashford a vibrant, cultural, and locally creative community.
