To buy a small van for BookWorms so that we can collect the large volume of book donations which we have been receiving all over East Anglia

About the project

BookWorms is a new Childrens Literacy Charity based in Holbrook, just outside of Ipswich, Suffolk. We are dedicated to ensuring all children can read well by the time they turn 13. One of the many aspects of the work we do is collecting book donations all over east anglia. We use these books for 3 very important purposes. Firstly we provide homeless families with books free of charge. Secondly we are opening a Reading Room in Ipswich next summer so we need books to stock it with, and finally we will be holding regular book sales where any remaining books are sold to fund training for our volunteers and to go towards our Reading Room fund.

So far the general public have been so good to us, and we have already received more offers of books than we could have hoped for so soon, unfortunately we are limited to using my mums beetle to drive around suffolk and collect the books. The boot is tiny, and the amount of journeys we're having to make is costing us a fortune in petrol.

If we could get a van, not only would it hugely reduce the cost of collecting these much needed books, it will also act as advertising for the charity, and this particular make and model of van, the Nissan S Cargo, is so quirky it will be a real head turner at shows and events. (Also, it's called an S CARGO and it's shaped like a snail, how could a LITERACY charity not want a van that's very name is a play on words)
