Area Inbetween are a newly founded community interest company that provide workshops for young people to take part in at either community settings or festivals. It's been set up by 3 mums who have a passion for the arts and experience in teaching and youth work. From taking our own kids to festivals for years we noticed that there were limtied activities that interested the older kids who were there with their families. This is where the project idea started and from there we realised that we could put something back into our more local communities as well. After talking to friends about all this it became obvious that we would have no problem finding people who wanted to be part of our team. All of our workshops are run by artists who have experience in working with young people and have shown enthusiasm in being part of our venture.
In July we have our first big booking at the Workhouse festival in Llanfyllin, Wales and are feeling both confident and excited that the older kids will love what we've got on offer. The range of workshops will include street art, street dance, electronic music production, digital media and other crafts using recycled materials. Alongside this there will be a general hang out area with a pool table and table football where tournaments will be taking place. As we are still in the very early stages of setting up our funding applications are still being written and sent off. We have been scouring our local freecycle groups and making good use of charity shops to gather anything useful. With your help we can make sure we WOW everyone at the festival. The money will be used to by materials and equipment so that we can make our workshops and whole area better and more exciting.
We recently took part in a community event alongside Nottingham Clubs for Young People, a voluntary youth organisation that has been running for nearly 80 years. Rebekah Whiting, training and volunteer development officer had this to say about us............. " Area Inbetween delivered a vase making workshop at one of Nottingham CYP's Angel's activity day. This was an innovative and creative activity that the young people had never done before. The young people loved the vases and spent hours creating their decorative designs and were excited to take them home. The Area Inbetween staff were approachable, profesional and passionate. The Area Inbetween ladies have vibrant personalities that are infectious and Notts CYP will definitely be asking them to return to our events again. "
Our rewards, although not big, will all be given with huge thanks and appreciation for your support. The gifts and artwork will be completed at the Workhouse festival itself so will be posted there after.
