To raise the necessary money required to complete the funding of a 1000 mile unsupported cycle ride. This ride is UNSUPPORTED.. that means no vehicle riding with us.. no mechanics, no medical team.. just us and our enthusiasm.
The ride itself is part of a series of 12 events planned this year for the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust. We aim to rasie at least £2000 for the charity itself via our charity page. This Crowdfunder is for Corporate sponsors looking to help fund the event.. Charity donations should go to our Just Giving page.. www.justgiving.com/benandsean
About the project
The UK will be cycle crazy during the time of our challenge... Its Tour De France month.. and we are riding tour de france length stages in France.. Can you see the value of the social media here.. Le Tour De "a bit" of France..
Sean Holland and Ben Goodman are middle aged born again cyclists. Neither are athletic, nor are we particulalry fit. We clubbed hard in the 90s and drank either side of it.. There was some tobacco here and there too. Despite that, here we are in 2015 ready to ride 1000 miles across 10 days in the saddle.. We are both enthusiastic cyclists and also motorcyclists.. as such we are only too aware of the value of the Air Ambulance in our beloved home county of Cornwall!
We have spent a fair bit of money on our bikes prepping and on training for a series of twelve events this year as well as booking a number of sportives. we are also putting on two live music nights to raise funds outside of cycling. We were going great guns and then two of our corporate sponsors pulled out.. One having been bought by a national company who didnt care much for the idea and the other who simply, through no fault of their own, couldnt follow through with their contribution. The best laid plans of mice and cyclists... We find ourselves £1500 short of the planned resources required to complete our Mammoth 1000 mile in 10 day cycle challenge..
The money raised will cover travel insurance, daily food/accomodation, the remainder of our spares, Luggage racks and an emergency fund. Any remaining money at the end of the challenge will be paid to the charity as will any overfunding. Full accounts for the trip will be published to our sponsors and Reciepts for daily spend will be kept for the Sponsor to claim as expenses.
Help us complete the journey!! The ferry tickets are booked, the bikes are purchased and serviced, we have trained for six months. All we need to do now is peddle the miles and rasie the sponsor money!
